Stryker Hip Implants

Asheville, North Carolina

Stryker Orthopaedics is one of the largest medical device manufacturers in the world, and the company counts a widely used series of hip replacement implants among its products. Unfortunately, these hip implants and some made by other companies have been linked to serious complications.

If you or a loved one suffered harm due to a fauly Stryker hip implant or other defective hip implant, the Asheville, North Carolina, hip implant attorneys at McWhirter, Bellinger & Associates may be able to help you recover financial compensation for medical costs, pain and suffering, and other resulting damages.

After the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recorded numerous complaints of side-effects associated with its hip implants, Stryker Orthopaedics recalled two of its hip replacment devices: the Stryker Rejuvenate hip stem and the Stryker ABG II modular-neck stem. These hip implant devices have been tied to a number of painful symptoms, and in some cases complications from these hip implants have caused the need for revision surgery.

Among the potential complications of Stryker hip implants and other all-metal hip implants is metallosis. The metal-on-metal components of these hip implants can cause metallic debris to shed and accumulate in your soft tissue. This, in turn, can cause progressive pain and inflammation among other problems.

Other side-effects associated with Stryker hip implants and other metal hip implants include:

  • Dislocation around the implant
  • Implant failure
  • Tissue dying around the implant  (necrosis)
  • Bone deterioration around the implant (osteolysis)
  • Pseudotumors or cysts

Patients who experience complications from faulty metal hip implants often require revision surgery to remove and replace the defective hip implant devices. Your doctor or surgeon will determine if you need a revision surgery. For additional information, please see our Questions about Stryker Hip Replacement Lawsuits page.
